Winter Wine Weekend Line Up
January and February are typically droll months of the year. With the fervor of Christmas over, we tend to just trudge through these two months counting the days until Spring.
That is unless you’re a guest of the Iris Inn. Then January and February are months you look forward to!
The Iris Inn’s¬†Winter Wine Weekend is a favorite among guests. Not only does it put a sparkle in two very drab months, but it’s also a lot of fun for both the wine enthusiast and those wanting to learn more about wines.
This year’s dates are January 25 & 26, February 8 & 9, so mark your calendars. We only have room for 16 couples per event and demand is great. So don’t delay in making your reservations.
Now, let’s take a look at all the fun you’ll have this year.
Winter Wine Weekend Schedule
Wine expert and our weekend host,¬†Marc Suspic of Wine Living, will be on hand all weekend, starting with our meet and greet upon your arrival. He’ll be there to suggest the perfect wines to pair with our perfect appetizers:
- BBQ Sliders
- Stuffed Potato Skins
- Spinach Squares
Get to know the other wine enthusiasts and consider making plans to have dinner with them. There are lots of good places to eat in Waynesboro!
After dinner, you’ll meet back at the Inn to have a fondue of strawberries, pound cake, and pretzels with a dessert wine to finish off the evening. It’s mix, mingle, and indulge until you’re ready for bed.
Get ready! Because it’s a fun day centered around our love for good food and wine. And that’s where Marc takes center stage. He’s going to challenge everything you think about…are you ready for this? Boxed wines!
His topic: Drinking from the Box: Delicious Boxed Wines That Love Boxed Lunches
Marc swears that boxed wines aren’t the scourge we think they are. What’s more, he’s going to prove that to us. We’re going to add a little playfulness of our own by serving lunch in a fun lunch box. Skeptics are definitely welcome as we enjoy a fine meal of:
- Build-Your-Own Taco Bar
- Tortilla chips, Black Bean Salsa
Count on having a generous helping of fun and entertainment with your meal! After lunch, take advantage of the beautiful mountain surroundings of the Inn. Go for a walk or take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Or pair up with some of the other couples, and enjoy a leisurely afternoon around the Inn.
Oh, my! Nothing calls for wine more than a fine Italian dinner, and that’s exactly what we’re cooking up Cicchetti¬†style. Marc will talk about Italian wines while guests enjoy tempting Italian dishes:
- Crostinis with 3 different toppings to choose from
-  Parmesan-Stuffed Mushrooms
- 3 Different Pasta Options
- Garlic Bread
- Caesar Salad
After dinner, if you so choose, bring your favorite bottle of wine and share. This is a fun way to learn about other wines and enjoy a wide variety at the same time.
Can you think of a better way to beat the winter doldrums? We can’t. So, if you like meeting other couples who enjoy good food and good wine, choose a Winter Wine Weekend date now!
