New Year’s Resolutions for the Avid Traveler You Can Keep

Smart packing for the ardent travelerYou can have all kinds of New Year’s Resolutions. Some of them you know you should keep, and some (ahem), you never will.

So why not make some resolutions that inspire you to keep them? And that means FUN!

Fun resolutions are associated with high levels of happiness. And you know what that means…A happier life!

And we’re all for happy. So with that in mind, here are 5 resolutions die-hard travelers can make AND keep.

1.Pack smart. Resolve to stop over packing! You don’t really need that extra pair of high heel shoes, do you? If it turns out you do need 3-inch heels while traveling, stop at a shoe store and get a pair. Otherwise, add items you really might need while on the road.

2. Use those vacation days! You love to travel, so don’t put it off! Too many Americans save their vacation time and then lose them! Use your accumulated time to re-charge. That’s what they’re for. You’ll come back to the workplace energized and refreshed.

3. Stay fit while on the road. Just because you’re traveling, doesn’t mean you have to abandon exercise. Hiking is practically synonymous with the Shenandoah Valley. One of our crown jewels is the Shenandoah National Park. And we have many trails close to the Inn to take advantage of. Of course, your room is plenty spacious for early morning calisthenics!

4. Be choosy about your accommodations. Okay, we admit it. That’s where we come in. When you’re a travel bug, where you stay makes all the difference in the world. 5. Eat well but avoid gluttony. B & B’s are known for their scrumptious breakfasts, and we’re proud to be a part of that tradition. Eat heartily, but avoid over eating (Do you really need that extra beer at dinner?) Choose foods that support good health and limit comfort foods.
