Skyline Drive: Big Sky Views

While staying at the Inn you are just a short drive from the Waynesboro entrance of the Skyline Drive. Make sure to leave some time in your schedule to take a drive, go for a hike or explore the big sky views the area has to offer.

Stop at the Overlookscrescent rock overlook

The Skyline Drive offers over 75 named overlooks to take in the beautiful surroundings. Stop at Crimora Lake, Hogback, and Spitler Knoll to take in the view of the Shenandoah Valley, the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains or some of the area wildlife. Some of the overlooks are pull offs so you only have to take a few steps from your car to take in the breathtaking views.  There are several overlooks with hiking trails that lead to the soothing streams and waterfalls in the park.

The Skyline Drive does offer a few restaurants along the way where you can enjoy some food as well.

Night Sky Festival

The second annual Night Sky Festival is happening this month. Since the solar eclipseskyline drive at night occurs on August 21st there are some special presentations and events going on from August 18th-21st. The park rangers will be hosting star gazing beginning Friday night. They will also offer some special talks and stories under the stars for the remainder of the weekend. While it will not be a total eclipse in this part of the country there will be a great view from the park to see it on Monday afternoon. The stores located on the Skyline Drive do offer some items about astronomy as well.
