August is craft beer month in Virginia and if you’re staying at the Inn, then you’re surrounded by some of the best breweries in the state. With several breweries in the Waynesboro, Staunton and Afton area you can make a day or weekend of beer tasting.
Stable Craft created the restaurant and tap room in what used to be working stables. With 16 beers on tap, this brewery seems to have something for everyone. The brewmaster was recently honored as one of the Best Brewmasters in Virginia.
Offering a full-service restaurant, they will make sure that you leave with a happy palette and full stomach. Something that makes Stable Craft special is that they are a working farm and they grow their own hops. Come with a group of friends and play corn hole in the stables, volleyball in the sand or visit with the horses.Â
Wild Wolf Brewing: Green Brewery of the Year
Wild Wolf Brewing Company was named the Virginia Green Brewery of the Year in 2015 and 2016. Danny, the brewmaster, is always looking for new ways to limit the carbon footprint of the brewery and increase sustainability.
The Wolf family renovated an over 100-year-old schoolhouse into a restaurant and built a brewery on the property located on the 151 Trail. The restaurant features locally sourced foods. With 13 craft brews on tap and a large seasonal selection, the featured brews are always changing. Come on a Saturday evening and enjoy the sounds of live music.
Redbeard Brewing Company: A Family Affair
Located in the Wharf district in Staunton, Redbeard Brewing Company is a family affair. The Wright family has been in this area for more than 350 years. As the story goes, someone has been making beer as far back as they can remember. With a taproom and outdoor beer garden they are serving up “real ales”.
Most beers are served from the kegs that they were started and fermented in so you’ll be drinking just steps away from where your beer was made. Go on a Friday night for live music or a Sunday for Karaoke.Â
