“A purposeful act or extension of kindness to another is never wasted, for it always resides in the hearts of all involved in a chain of love.” ― Molly Friedenfeld, The Book of Simple Human Truth
Part of what makes our job so special is getting to meet a huge variety of people and having the pleasure of hearing their stories, and we were especially touched by a recent couple who stayed as guests of the inn.
Daniel and Miriam Burrows make their home in Staunton, Virginia with their almost-two-year old son Clarke. Miriam is an actor at the American Shakespeare Center, while Daniel is an employee of the locally acclaimed restaurant Zynodoa. It was a customer of Zynodoa who treated the Burrows to a stay at the Iris Inn. This customer learned that Daniel had recently suffered a leg injury, and with a lack of insurance and a one-year old child to care for, Daniel and Miriam were under a great deal of pressure.
The Zynodoa customer anonymously purchased an Iris Inn gift certificate for Daniel and Miriam. This pay-it-forward act of kindness allowed the couple a chance to rest and relax on their second anniversary, and we have to say that we were touched by this stranger’s act of kindness and generosity.
If you are looking to pay-it-forward to someone, our gift certificates are at your service, and we’ll be happy to make it an anonymous gift if you’d like. (Mother’s Day is coming up quickly, so this would be a great idea for your mom of the special mother-figure in your life.)
