“Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers.” –Herbert Hoover
Spring has entered with a fanfare of warm weather and early blooms, and now is the time to once again enjoy outdoor events and festivals. One such festival that is soon to take place in Waynesboro is the 14th Annual Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival, which will commence on April 12-13 2014: “Over 50 onsite exhibitors will have the latest in fly fishing equipment, fly tying and guide services. Beginner to expert anglers will enjoy nonstop lectures on where, when and how to fly fish in the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.” –Visit Waynesboro
Take classes for beginners, chat with fellow sportsman, browse the many different vendors, enjoy live musical performances, and bask in the beauty of the outdoors. If you are concerned about our lack of a fishing license, then let us put your mind at ease. You will have the opportunity to purchase a fishing license onsite from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. (Just make sure you have an ID and either cash or a credit card.)
Now that we’ve covered the fishing part of the festival, let’s talk a bit about the second theme—wine (and beer) tasting! Treat your palate to local wines from Barren Ridge Vineyards, Sans Soucy Vineyards, Starr Hill Brewery, Bold Rock Hard Cider, Cardinal Point Winery, and more.
Make sure to book your room at the Iris Inn, and be ready for a fantastic festival.
